Altenmarkt-Zauchensee is a combination of two contrasting holiday towns.
The charming, traditional holiday town of Altenmarkt, at 842 m above sea level, lies in an open valley, bordered by forested hills and an amazing mountain backdrop. This market parish is the oldest settlement in Ennspongau. We invite you to spend time here, explore the beautiful marketplace, the Gothic Church that was built back in the 14th Century, our local history museums, the traditional guesthouses and the wonderful selection of shops which create a shopping paradise with heart and soul. Naturally there are also plenty of cafés and restaurants for a quick break in your travels.

The mountain village of Zauchensee is 10 km away from Altenmarkt, right at the end of the valley at 1,350 m above sea level, up in the summer pastures. It is surrounded by the high alpine mountains and has a 3 ha mountain lake at its entrance. Zauchensee is one of the highest located ski resorts in Sportworld Amadé and is known as a "snow hole", due to the high levels of snow it attracts. In summer, it transforms into the Magic Mountains club which offers all-inclusive package deals, especially good for families as it offers so many activities.
